We love pampering our pets with toys and delicious foods. But some pets can be picky and hard to impress. Hence, it is important to know what satisfies their palate to keep them healthy. With hundreds of packaged cat food options available, it can be difficult to experiment and pick the right one. So, if you are looking for the perfect food for your cat, then the following DIY healthy cat treats can help.
1. Tuna treats
This DIY treat is perfect for cats, as most of them love tuna. Take one tin of thoroughly drained tuna and add it to a blending bowl. Take a separate bowl, crack open an egg, and only beat the egg white until it starts forming peaks. Add one-two tablespoons of that into the drained tuna and blend until it forms a smooth paste without any flakes or lumps. Preheat the oven at 150 degrees and line a baking tray with greaseproof paper. Make small morsels of the mixture and place them in the baking tray. Place in the oven for 25-30 minutes, and your cat treats are ready.
2. Chicken and spinach treats
Steam at least half a pound of boneless and skinless chicken until cooked. Then, add steamed chicken, 3/4th cup of fresh spinach leaves, oats, an egg, a tablespoon of catnip, and at least ¼ cup of flour in a blending bowl. Make sure the mixture blends completely. It should have a perfect mix of smooth and chunky texture. Preheat the oven at 170 degrees and add flour to the mixture and place it on a flour-dusted surface. Flatten it with a rolling pin, and cut it into small pieces. Place the treats in the baking tray and bake for 15-20 minutes.
3. Beef treats
This a very simple yet healthy DIY cat treat. All you need is 500 grams of minced beef, two eggs, and at least two tablespoons of catnip. Combine minced beef, eggs, and catnip in a mixing bowl. Spread the mixture on a baking tray lined with aluminum foil and cut them into bite-sized portions. Bake this for 8 minutes. You can also drain the mixture of excess fat or switch to any other lean meat. However, it is imperative to consult a vet about the type of meat to use.
4. Chicken and sardine mash
Sardine is yet another fish that most cats love. Heat a frying pan and add two to three tablespoons of olive oil. Take at least one pound of skinless chicken and slice them into strips and sauté in the pan until cooked thoroughly. Peel and chop a carrot, potato, and butternut pumpkin, and toss them on a baking paper with olive oil. Bake them at 180 degrees for at least half an hour. Mash the based vegetables with a fork and combine them with chicken and sardine. Add two tablespoons of your cat’s favorite herbs and divide the mixture into small portions.
